Resumen del concurso

Hello! We are looking for a world war 2 era miniature building. FOR 3D PRINT / Injection Molding. GUARANTEED CONTEST.

There are some general specifics but many of these (other than the width) can be adapted to your creativity or design limitations:

1. 2.9" hexagon (2.5" flat to flat)
2. 1.5" high + plus rooftop
3. Rooftop is flat except on two sides, which have a partial roof element. (10 mm sloped triangle)
4. .75mm deep brick texture on sides.
5 1 mm deep windows and doors (very small scale.)
6. Chimney on partial roof element
7. Roof element and flat roof portion have a 'shingle' texture

9 Hollow inside. Walls are 2mm thick. Designed for 3D printing. Final file formats? .stl and .stp

SCALE of WINDOWS and DOORS: This building will abstractly represent a large building, like a factory or large inn. So the windows and doors should be small and plentiful. Or the windows can be large factory style windows.

HAHA they just had second thoughts again, so false alarm, we're not sure which scale is going to work best, and #22 may be too large of a scale.

This was really tough, to be honest we are not even sure which one is going to work the best until we print them out and use them. The partners have selected Abraham's work ( #22 , 20, 25) but it was almost a toin coss between that and Abdelkader and Otavio, andrijana and Abhijeet and others. We're going to try out Abraham's first but we may very well need to buy some of these other ones from you guys directly. Thank you all very much for all of the work you put into this little contest. We have bookmarked your profiles for future work! We will have some more contests coming up for more ww2 buildings and units as well! Thanks again!

Jeez guys! You made this too hard to choose, so many great entries! :) I did not think we would have so many good submissions. I will show the team and male a choice later today. Unless someone got Caught out of time and needs an extension?

Some great decoration #10 like the detail work above the windows. Don't know if this screams World War 2 or not, and the overhangs will probably not work well the injection mold. But I love the pillars and extra decoration!

    Maybe a multi-row / townhome style?

I know decorating these up is a tall order however, a. for the low contest reward and b. due to the project restrictions. Showing all these to my partners tonight!

Hi Alexander, checking this out more closely. It looks pretty good. I think it needs a different texture for the roof / roof shingles. Actually upon closer examination its quite good. The walls seem a little thick in ratio to the size (we are going for around 2mm) and the depth of the windows looks great, but possibly too deep for the injection molding process. Lastly I know this is hard to define, but there are quite a few good entries so now we are looking for something that is particularly world war 2 era, european, normandy, france looking.

The width (flat to flat) is 63.5 mm. Height without roof 38,1 mm.
I modeled this building as a factory. On the third floor there are production halls, that is why there are such large windows (for lighting).
    What could I improve?

BTW looking for windows and some doors on all sides. If possible it would be nice if the sides had some differences. Like a Barn door on one side etc... But not necessary

Pretty good Volo! Basic shape looks good. Out of curiosity what is the ratio between width and height? The giant windows to tiny doors seem too different of a scale but otherwise good.

Good question. Short answer: these will have to represent larger buildings of the era, factories, governement buildings, perhaps a really large inn or building complex. Its going onto ww2 maps that have 3" hexes (point to point). The scale is pretty abstracted however as the printed buildings on the board they will be replacing are much smaller: .75 inches long usually.

The building should be unnaturally squat probably 1.75" high to its 3" width. The roof section should probably be 10mm or higher.

Final export needs to be .stl and .stp. Walls are 2 -2.5 mm thick, the inside is hollow. Texture inset ranges from .75 to 1 mm thick. (so it shows up clearly).

I have had a hard time coming up with exact measurements of scale because we are taking so many liberties with it. The second example above has okay window size on top for large factory windows. The door is too big for a regular door., unless it was converted into a large stable/factory door. i.e. this model is representing a generic large building. Not a cottage or single family home.

i.e. entries do not need to be colored just grey plastic is best to help show the final 3d printed / injected molded project :) thanks for the first entries. When we get an entry just a tad closer we will add GUARANTEED.

And I THINK a shorter building, its a game abstraction, the building model will not be as "high" as it should be in a real replica, because infantry unit tiles will be placed on top while playing the board game to show they are inside the building.... but i could be wrong. will be easier to see in just solid grey plastic texture.

Feedback on the first entry. We would like to see more windows all around, and some more doors, probably a little smaller (in scale terms this is a really large building.). And roof shingles on the top of the building (vs just the brick). Probably a slightly higher partial roof now that we see it. Otherwise , yes this is pretty much what we were looking for. A cobblestone outside texture may make it look more World War 2 / normandy style but just a thought.
