All of a sudden I am having issues with Filezilla while trying to upload files to a PureFTPd server running on CentOS 7.x sat on an EC2 client. I have no problem logging into the server and navigating the directories, it's the file transfer that's stopped working.
I initially thought it was a server issue so completed a totally fresh reinstall on a new EC2 instance but the problem persists. Then read up and saw something about it could be that a firewall blocking the passive ports but the ports 40110 - 40210 are open.
Thinking it was a Filezilla issue, I installed a different FTP client called "Core FTP LE" and this seemed to have uploaded the files. However none of the uploaded files would display in my web browser so doubled checked and it seemed all the uploaded files have zero length file size.
Finally I got my laptop out and tried uploading a file with an older version of Filezilla installed and success, it uploaded. Both the laptop and desktop share the same internet connection so I am now trying to figure out why my desktop can't FTP files (using 2 different FTP clients) but my laptop can? It had been working fine before.
Best solution (apart from doing a complete re-install) that gets FTP back working properly on my desktop gets $25.
