Resumen del concurso

We have three superheroes that we want you to create. The final result should be 3 high-quality pieces of art in either photoshop or adobe illustrator format.

Requirements:
• High-Quality Illustration or Photoshop Art
• Change their pose (they shouldn't be in the exact same position as the reference images.)
• Possibly Change their costume (Not required. If done well, this can be a great way to make your piece stand out. If done poorly, it will ruin the piece.)
• Pay careful attention to hair texture - (If you don't know how to illustrate Black hairstyles, look into it before creating your piece. It is easy to spot sloppy work on hair texture.)

If you want to look up the characters to do better work, their names are Icon (Augustus Freeman,) Blue Marvel, and Val Zod.

Artwork Submission Check
In order to be considered a winner in this contest, the following requirements must be met. Any submission that does not meet these requirements will be disregarded.

1. The file is submitted in both PNG and either a Photoshop .PSB or Illustrator .AI file formats.
2. The files are 300 DPI.
3. The files are submitted in 32in x 40in unless we specify elsewhere differently (If we message you or give specific contest requirements posted elsewhere those be followed instead).
4. The files are RGB.
5. The layers are grouped by element (example all layers pertaining to a character’s eye are put in the same folder).
6. Here’s a sample of how we’d like things organized in the layers panel:

Let’s say we have a drawing of a human head:

- Head (folder)
- - Face (folder)
- - - Eyes
- - - - Left Eye (folder)
- - - - - All left eye artwork layers. Don’t combine these layers. Organize them in folders.
- - - - Right Eye (folder)
- - - - - All right eye artwork layers. Please don’t combine but organize parts by folders.
- - - Nose (folder)
- - - - Any subfolders or sublayers
- - - Mouth (folder)
- - - - Any subfolders or sublayers
- - - Ears (folder)
- - - - Left Ear (folder)
- - - - Right Ear (folder)
- - Hair
- - - - Any subfolders or sublayers
- - Neck
- - - - Any appropriate subfolders
- - Etc.

7. Make sure you can say NO to the following questions:
1. Are there any elements on the same layer as other unattached elements?
i. Example: two ears are on the same layer.
1. If so, please separate with each ear on it’s own separate layer.
2. Is there any text on the same layer as non-text items?
a. Is there any rasterized or smart object text elements? We’d prefer if you keep them just as text layers!
i. If you’re adding effects to the text and need to convert to smart object that’s fine if you must! If at all possible, we’d like to try and keep the text as editable as possible in case we’d like to change the text after submission.

Other considerations:
8. Please hide all signatures prior to submission.
9. Please label your folders so we can know what pertains to what in the artwork and the layers panel.

Thank you so much for your submissions and if nothing else is clear remember this: If you had to look through the layers panel, would you be able to quickly and easily identify what layers go to what elements in the artwork? If not please consider organizing.

For further questions please contact us and we’d be happy to clarify. Thanks!

** WARNING: DO NOT submit artwork that uses main elements that are taken from other works. We will reverse image search the designs to make sure you're not sending us plagiarized work. We'll report you if you're copying others' work.

Bro, you're the one in here talking foolish and commenting like that. You may be a great artist in some styles. But the proportions are wrong on the bodies, the faces look crazy, one of their hands looks mangled, and all in all, you need to work on your craft if you plan on doing full body characters that are in proportion and have fully developed facial features. You had a lot of good ideas, but bad execution. But this is our last comment on the matter. The truth won't move you. If you ask anybody who doesn't love you already to give their thoughts on the art you submitted, they'll tell you that it's not professional quality.

I assume recreate means Re-Create the whole costume design (without losing it's original costume themed), am I right?

We addressed the costumes in the contest details. Please review the instructions fully.

Redesigning the costume is up to you. It could be great if done well or could ruin the art if it’s a bad costume concept. So that would be up to you.

Do you need backgrounds for the illustrations or just the figures of the characters.

No backgrounds required. It could help some submissions to include them, but the main focus is the heroes and that’s all that’s required.

What if I don't paint using layers? Is a single layer painting acceptable?

does organizing layers only apply to the head, what about the body?

      Hi Nugroho,

Organizing layers applies to the whole piece. Effects, weapons, separate elements, etc. If you draw the body all in one go, you wouldn't have to do a separate layer. If the costume is a separate layer over a wire frame or sketch of the body, keep the layers separate and label them. If you do the gloves separately, put them on their own layer.

Let us know if that answers your questions or if you have any others.

Hi! Mi name is Mariali. I have a question regarding the illustrations, do you wish for complete body or bust illustration? If you wish for complete body illustrations do you have some poses in mind or wish for a more static one or more dynamic one. Thank you for your time! :)

HI Mariali, We want these to be complete body illustrations. We aren't set on specific poses, but the characters should look awesome/epic in some way. If you want to run a pose by us before you work on it, let us know. We'll take a look and let you know if we think it would be a problem.

Hello, I want to ask, what do you need is a comic style (like your attachment), vector art/vector portrait, or digital painting?

Digital painting. If it's in comic style, it should be like the very detailed covers as opposed to individual panels, which are sparsely detailed. We're not looking for photorealistic or anything, just a highly detailed piece of art.
