This is a Y/A Romantic Fantasy cover contest for Book One -- Vermin

The template is to be used in order to make a full cover. Your submission is judged not only on what you create but also on how well you follow instructions. Your submission must show the front and back laid out on the template. Do not submit a 3D cover or book mock-up. Submit the same flat file as the template or you run the chance of being rejected immediately. We need someone who knows how to follow instructions and this is the first test. Your submission must show where images are sourced for verification.

Try to stay away from images of people on the cover, they are rarely acceptable. If you put images of people on the cover, keep in mind the main characters are you (13 and 14). All images used must be attributed to the source for copyright verification.

Do Not:
Use copyrighted images without verifying they are free for commercial use
Ignore the submission guidelines on the image
Use old people or people wearing current styles of clothing - thing Tudor England for garb

Thoughts from the publisher:
I want a clean cover that conveys a clean romance between young people coming of age. Ideally, no images of people, but am open if they are well done and convey the idea behind the work.

This work takes place during winter, so a cold/cool temperature pallet should be used.

I am not averse to using the first letter of the series name on the cover.

Initial thoughts were a snow-covered field with an older home in the background and the letter V embossed on the front with snow collecting around it.

If you have a question, post it in the comments area. DO NOT TELL ME TO LOOK AT YOUR SUBMISSION IN THE COMMENTS AREA. Doing so is considered rude and that I don't watch the contest for entries. The contest is scanned twice daily and comments left for the submitting artists. Telling me to look at your submission is a fast track to getting rejected.

If accepted, you will be expected to supply the PSD file and all images separately for image search verification to check copyright.

Remember, this is a Romance / Fantasy Y/A book with the main characters at the age of 14. We've rejected many submissions due to them not having this theme in them, and the only one that is liked to any degree does not have the romantic/fantasy feel like we are looking for. Remember, there is a bar code on the back of the book cover that cannot be covered up! It is called an ISBN and used by bookstores to keep track of inventory.
