Task Desc: Develop embedded software for microcontroller to acquire data from analogue signal. There are 4 channels and each channel has to be sampled and processed simultaneously. We have a dual core board based on ARM architecture ready, but if you wish to work on a different architecture, feel free to tell us and we will ship you the board and required electronic components. The code can be developed in C or C++. We will provide required libaries for Rs232 and lwIP to communication. Your task will be to develop the SWD ADC with required sampling rate, store the data in RAM or Flash, transmit data over Rs232 or TCP/IP. It is complicated to decide, who we give this project to. As a solution I have the task details with sample signals and information in the attachment. Please answer the 6 questions and send back the whole documents with your username as in freelancer.com. We will check the answer and allot the project who gives us a satisfactory answer. Don't write the answers in bidding comments. Ans: The sampling frequency of ADC is decided by the upper cut off frequency of the signal. If I assume input signal is a pure sine wave, I prefer to have 10 samples per half cycle and 20 samples for complete cycle. So sampling speed must be 61kHz x 20= 1.2Msps. Better to go for 2Msps uC 2. What is the signal bandwidth? Ans:Signal Band width here is 61-25 = 36kHz. As a designer I considered, the lowest of lower cut off and highest of higher cutoff. 3. What is the criterion to reconstruct the signal after digitization? Ans:You want rebuild the signal again by uC? It shall be done by R-2R DAC by uC pins or by using PWM. (But PWM for reconstruction at 61kHz is too big). I m not sure I understood correctly your question. 4. Do you consider over-sampling in this case? Ans:Oversampling always good for signal integrity point of view. Since we store the content to RAM, I would prefer to over sample, but do a small signal analysis and store the required content to RAM to save RAM usage. 5. The signal comes from 4 channels, suggest a Microcontroller that can sample the 4 channels simultaneously? (optional question) Ans: No. I do not have a choice now. May be what you have selected is good. I have used STM32F103 and dspic33F series. But they have only 2 adc units. 6. What ADC Resolution is ideal for this case? Ans: 12bit is ideal.

As HW designer, I work in Orcad and I have experience in development single MCU (Microchip PIC and ARM Cortex) boards with several digital I/O (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, PWM,....) and some analog I/O. I design complete board: power section, MCU section, peripheral section,.... I design also boards with battery power; so I have experience in low power PCB design. I have also experience in commercial boards (Arduino, Raspberry, Beaglebone,...) shields design. I have also experience in bluetooth (both 2.0 and 4.0) PCB design. As FW developer, I work in C for Microchip PIC and ARM Cortex. I work both in single task and multi task environment. I write code both for low level driver (GPIO, UART, SPI, I2C, PWM....) management and for high level/final application. I work also in "C code" commercial boards Arduino and Linux embedded commercial boards (Raspberry and Beaglebone). I have also experience in bluetooth (both 2.0 and 4.0) programming. As SW developer, I work in .NET, Java, and lot of others programming languages. Mainly I work for Windows O.S., but I have experience in Linux development too. Also I have experience in Android App development with Java (Eclipse + Android SDK + Java).

The questions seemed strange based on your later key points. The key points also failed to disclose what data throughput you require out of the system, nor why acquiring data at 1000X the max required frequency is required. The signal described will be also clipped at times unless you increase the allowable range of the signal, in which case we come back to what resolution you require in order to determine the absolute range and resolution of the system and the ADC. Also, your 2ms sampling window will be insufficient for you to acquire the data you need, since your lower cut-off requires much, much longer time to acquire, You would be better off implementing streaming with (or without) compression, which the ARM core should be able to handle easily. I have made similar acquire data system. Strain gauge is the signal source. I worked on increasing signal/noise ratio. I used Fourier transform for analyses data from system. I proposed new method for system calibration.
