Exam writer

We are a new digital company, based in Spain, which main objective is to teach English through a site. We are looking for exam writers for Cambridge English First (FCE, B2 level). What is FCE? A Cambridge English: First (FCE) qualification proves you have the language skills to live and work independently in an English-speaking country or study on courses taught in English. The exam is made up of four papers (Reading and Use of English, Writing, Listening, Speaking) developed to test your English language skills. What do we need? Produce exam exercise for Part 5 (Multiple choice) of Reading and Use of English paper. What is Part 5 Multiple choice? In this part, there is an emphasis on detailed understanding of a text, including the expression of opinion, attitude, purpose, main idea, detail, tone, implication and gist. Candidates are also tested on their ability to recognise meaning from context and follow text organisation features, such as exemplification, comparison and reference. Part 5 consists of a text, followed by six 4-option multiple-choice questions which test the understanding of content and text organisation. The text may be taken from, for example, a modern novel or an article. Questions may focus on the main ideas or details in the text, and on the attitudes or opinions expressed. Candidates may also be asked to deduce the meaning of a word or phrase and to demonstrate understanding of references, such as pronouns, within the text. Additionally, questions may focus on the tone of the text or the writer’s purpose, as well as the use of exemplification or comparison. These questions may require candidates to infer the meaning from clues in the text, a skill which is an essential part of reading ability. The 4-option multiple-choice questions are presented in the same order as the information in the text so that candidates can follow the development of the writer’s ideas as they work through the questions. The final question may require candidates to interpret an aspect of the text as a whole. The writer is required to: • Produce 10 exercises (900 words each) only for Part 5 of Reading and Use of English paper (see sample of full exam and Part 5 attached). • Be familiarise with Cambridge exam format (see attached Cambridge-english-FCE-handbook, focus on page 7-26) • Prepare the questions or items with answer keys as specified by Cambridge, according to the syllabus specification and item writer guidelines, ensuring the level of difficulty is appropriate for the qualification and fits the specification. • Provide full details of source material used where where copyright permission will be required. • Send a revised version of the material following feedback from a senior consultant.
