First:- I want to convert bookmaker lay prices into 100% probablitlies from data set.
So an example would be:-
8 selections, decimal prices
3.0, 4.5, 6.0, 9.0, 9.0, 17.0, 21.0, 26.0
The sum of 1/deciaml prices is 109%. I wan't to know the true likelihood of each selection winning.
Second:- I then want to be able to determine the likelihood of each selection finishing in any given position, from 1st to nth, where n is the number of selections in the event.
All code run in R/Matlab will need to be documented and shared.

As an MS in Applied Math, this work is very easy to me.
This is simple 1/1.08935 *(1/3 + 1 /4.5 + 1/6 + 1/9 + 1/9 + 1/17 + 1/21 + 1/26 ) = 100%
So the true probability for each selections is
1/1.08935 * 1/3
1/1.08935 * 1/4.5
and so on
Please explain me the second part.
