Magento 2 Store Evaluation

Hi,
We are in the process of building a new magento 2 e-commerce platform for a custom PC shop based in the UK. The collaboration currently consists of myself (MD of the custom PC shop), a 3rd party development company and their 3rd party template designer.
The template is complete and the store ([login to view URL]) is currently being populated with true products. It is not live and currently resides on a test host service which will become its final home. Other than the template modules, the rest is vanilla.
I wish for a Mage 2 developer/guru to cast their eye over the platform to ensure that the work that has been done is shall we say "efficient" or in other words "correct/the right way". Neither myself or the development company are Magento 2 developers and we both have concerns over the site speed. Randomly there can be a 7 or 8 second time to first byte and the host seems to believe the issue is with the template. Of course, you may find issues with the host environment.
This is not a request to fix the issues only to conclude your thoughts of the project by spending a few hours looking and playing with the setup and feeding back your findings or recommendations. Of course if there are glaring issues then the opertunity to fix them will arise and likely become our "go to" for future projects.
