McChrystal Group is an elite advisory services and leadership development firm composed of a diverse mix of professionals from the military, academic, business, and intelligence sectors who specialize in preparing clients for success in a complex environment by transforming organizations into cohesive, adaptable “teams of teams.” McChrystal Group's Finance team is seeking driven accounting and finance freelancers to fill the role of a team member on maternity leave during the spring and summer of 2020. As a part-time contributor to the team, you will engage with a wide variety of corporate finance work and actively participate in the day-to-day activities of a high performing, closely tied F&A group. Your success in this role will be determined by your mastery of accounting principles, your close attention to detail, your ability to adapt and perform in ambiguous situations, and your motivation to understand how the work you do plays into the success of the larger organization. Scope of Role: Provide execution analysis to inform senior level decision making Post and process entries to ensure all business transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner Assist with the review of expenses Update financial data in QuickBooks Post journal entries for prepaid expenses Review and process expense reports Prepare and issue invoices Track and monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable Perform various accounts/bank/credit card reconciliations Assist in the preparation of monthly/yearly closings Assist with other accounting projects The role will begin as soon as possible, meaning you would need to be within commutable distance of our Alexandria headquarters, and run into the end of July with the opportunity for full time extension.
