Hi, I need you to write an Analasys: The Film Analysis Essay should be 4-5 pages (single- or double-Spaced), and preferably in font size 12.. The films is on YouTube. You should write on 1 film only. - Film analysis is NOT a film review. An analysis means you must engage on a level beyond writing a summary of the film. Note that I HAVE SEEN THE FILMS MANY MANY TIMES, so no lengthy summary of the film. No points will be given to a paper that is just summary of the film. -You will be analyzing a historically based films, Sophie Scholl: The Final Days (2005) OR Suffragette (2015). As you watch the film, Take notes about events, ideas, or traits of characters addressed in the film & think about the historical context (what was going on in the outside world; political events, for instance that affected the events/decisions, and actions of the characters that are addressed). The better notes you can take the easier the paper will be to write. It should also help you with formulating your thesis statement. - You must be very specific in your analysis and provide specific EXAMPLES from the film. General and vague statements about the film or historical events surrounding the film’s subject will lower your grade substantially. You are required to research at least 1 outside source for your Film Analysis Essay. See page 2. Use your textbook only & only when discussing the historical/political context. -Writing the essay: Introduction- The Introduction should include brief info on the film (title, year it was produced, and the theme (subject); & a thesis statement. The thesis statement informs the reader about what the essay is setting out to argue. You can begin your thesis statement by writing, “This paper will argue that...; OR, My paper will show that the film Suffragette ...; OR, The film Sophie Scholl: The Final Day sheds light on how a German WWII anti-Nazi resistance movement led by a group of students...” Please underline your thesis statement. Body Paragraphs- A) In no more than 2 paragraphs, provide a brief summary of the Film (who, what, where and WHEN, and why). B) In the subsequent paragraphs (3-5, or more), develop the claim/claims of your thesis statement. Your essay as a whole should show the significance of the event/s (or actions), what was happening beyond the event/s (meaning the historical context of the event/s). You are required to include accurate dates when discussing the historical context (or political events) surrounding the events addressed in the film. Concluding paragraph (no more than 2-3 paragraphs). In your Conclusion: 1) Focus on Historical (or factual) inaccuracies – What are some of the events in the movie, such as capture and trial of Sophie Scholl; are they historically inaccurate? What about the historical characters such as Sophie Scholl or Emmeline Pankhurst? To address the inaccuracies, you are required to research at least 1 outside source. See page 2. 2) Include a brief discussion on how the information you gained about this event/person would NOT have been conveyed by reading your textbook only. - Cite your Sources: You must show all the sources that you have used by citing them in MLA style (author page number); OR Footnotes in Chicago Manual of Style; (I have provided Instructions on both formats under ‘Content’ in D2L).
