Write some software to make my XP software work in Windows 8.1

Hi there, I'm a WIndows software engineer with extensive experience going back to legacy windows days(way before XP, and up to Win 10). Cakewalk is an audio editing software that Iv'e used before. I used to work for Yamaha's Pro Audio R&D dept in London and have a deep interest in audio and music, as player, singer, listener and software/systems engineer. *******UPDATE******** I've just taken a look at CakeWalk 3.0 and it is from 1994!! It is also 16-bit, and hence WILL **NOT** run on 64-bit Windows 8.1. You will need to continue using it on Windows NT, 2000, XP (and possibly Vista), that support 16-bit WIndows sub-systems on 32-bit O/S's - that NT, 2000, XP etc are/were).
