Hi, I think for your case, it will be better if it's fully used Arduino, 2560 boards will be fine as it have lot of available I/O pin. So, the Idea is remove latching circuit and just connecting your audio detection circuit directly to arduino, and let arduino drive LED driver. Arduino itself will counting until 4-5 seconds of every audio channel audio presence, just like what you proposed. Personally I'm professional Firmware engineer that has work with arduino since 2013 for various project. I know what I have to do with this project and I guess it will not cost a lot of time, just need a proper wiring documentation. Hi Sr, I was reading your proposal, and I can help you to solve the led problems. We can do that with flip-flops or with LM555 timers, but as you want to replicate by 12 channels, the hardware will be to big. For me the best is an Arduino, but we can chat and discuss about that. Using Mega 2560 will work or alternately, if you want a smaller and cheaper solution, using Arduino Pro Mini to control 4 channels - you will need 3 set for 12 channels. I recommend using Pro Mini as it is scalable and no issue with detecting speed. LM339 comparator is used as audio detection. Each IC has 4 comparators so you will need 3 set for 12 channels. This means you will each set, there will be 1 Pro Mini and 1 LM339. My proposal include the cost to design the board in Eagle (and generate gerber file) and the cost to develop firmware for Arduino Pro Mini. If you need a prototype board, I can make it but that will need extra cost. Additional cost is also required for shipment. Thank you, Anh

hello I hope that this good, good could be done with an arduino one and the multiplexer that you comment, I used an analog, 74hc4061 analog of 16 channels for reading the 12 entries. Now for the output, as there are so many LEDs, many output pins are needed, which option I give you, use LEDs WS2812B that can handle many LEDs using only 1 output pin. with this you could do what you need.
