This project’s goal is to record underwater sounds with a hydrophone and raspberry pi . Please read the attached document “An Autonomous Underwater Recorder Based on a Single Board [login to view URL]” inside the zip file to understand more about what we would like to accomplish. You need to be familiar with Electronics and Signal Analysis. This project consists of two sections. Section 1 Create your own simple hydrophone and record it using Raspberry Pi 1. Create a physical hydrophone based on the attached “Simple Hydrophone [login to view URL]“ document’s design (inside the zip file). If you can locally source the parts, that would be great as it will make the project move faster. If you cannot, we will send you the parts. 2. Connect the newly created hydrophone to a premade amplifier ADC circuit (something like this [login to view URL]) and record the sound 3. Using the recorded sound, create two graphs: time domain and frequency domain spectrogram using FFT of the recordings. Section 2 Use an off-the-shelf hydrophone and record it using Raspberry Pi 1. Use a commercial hydrophone (example: [login to view URL]) and connect it to a premade amplifier ADC circuit (something like this [login to view URL]) and record the sound. 2. Using the recorded sound, create two graphs: time domain and frequency domain spectrogram using FFT of the recordings. Since this will be a comparison project, you will need two sets of hardware (Raspberry Pi, ADC, and hydrophone). For the commercial hydrophone, you can purchase it locally (we will refund) or we can send you one. For the DIY hydrophone’s components, you will purchase them locally since the components are very cheap.
