Just a man with an idea.
Updated: January 20th, 2019
I've updated this project description (again) to clarify a few more things and correct and earlier error.
- Bids exceeding $250 will be immediately deleted.
- This project is not intended to be mass produced, and I intend on making the files freely available. So I need to keep the costs down or it's just not realistic.
I have a very simple and rather small PCB I need designed (roughly 3.5cm x 2.7cm), essentially a bare bones (2) port USB 2.0 HUB (non-powered) with a microSD card reader connected via one of the hubs ports (direct not via USB), and a MicroUSB Type-B Female connection for the other port. The smaller you can make it the better, even if it has to be double sided. Although I would like to be able to hand solder the components as well as keep it to a single side to help reduce the cost of production. The size of the board should also not exceed 1"x2".
No mounting holes are required, neither is an enclosure, like I said, simple!
The USB hub should ideally be designed around the FE1.1S as I have easy access to this component, unless you know of another chip that can allow the operation of a USB device and the SD card simultaneously. The HS8836 and HS8826 are also options. You can see some [Example] diagrams for those in the files tab above. These are examples only!
You should have prior PCB design experience and an understanding of electronic circuits and be independent and free thinking. I have provided a BOM of primary components below, but don't expect any schematics or a complete BOM. I have attached a block diagram in the files section, yeah...sorry it's the best I can do. You're also welcome to suggest changes to the BOM.
You can use Altium, EagleCad, or KiCad for the boards design.
That's really about all the information I can provide you, what can I say, my needs are simple, the idea is simple.
BOM:
(This is only an example of parts. Please feel free to make changes.)
FE1.1S or HS8836 (USB 2.0 HUB)
12MHz Frequency Cylindrical Crystal Oscillator 2x6mm Case (Not Required for HS88*6 Chips)
105162-0101 (MicroSD Card Header/Socket)
HS8826 (USB 2.0 MicroSD Reader) *Corrected January 18th, 2019

Hi,
If you ask my PCB design experience, I've did it since 2012 , and has done lot of projects, from Hobbyst, Robotics, Industrial, IoT, audio, until Military application.
I will use Eagle for this project, and 2 layer I guess enough. I just need detailed block diagram of what you wanna build.
Let's discuss it over chat .
Best Regards,
Rijal
Hello! I am an electronic engineer with 10 years experience in electronics design and PCB layout.
I can do this work using Eagle or Altium based on your detailed description and BOM trying to get the cheapest prototype as possible.
If you need further references, please contact me by chat.
Regards.
Hello sir,
I am final year student of electrical engineering i have been working with circuits and devices more than 3 years
I work locally for companies
Now i want to build up my future here
I will give you my best and hopefully you will find me best among all others
Tell me your projects detail so we can start work on it
Hope to hear good from your side
Thanks
your project is fairly feasible and i can help you with that. i had experience of PCB designing already designed 3 micro controller kits based around arduino using nrf51 micro controller. had good experience in 2-layer PCB designing
Hi Sr,
I can design the small PCB board that you need, I will design it in Altium Designer.
I made other jobs using GL827L, it is a cheap chip from USB to uSD card and the USB2422 as USB HUB, and all the circuits worked good. I think that is a good option.
About the mounting type, the cheapest is manufacturing is the regular SMD, because all the parts that must to be soldered by hand take more time. The SMD are soldered by machines (cheapest).
Aboit your BOM, we can discuss that by chat to define the best in this project.
I will separate the job in two parts:
1) Schematcis, BOM and libraries.
2) PCB design, folowing your guidelines, 3D files for you can see the board, and 1 review.
I will start with the schematics today, once that you approve me the BOM (list of materials), I will start with the PCB, and once that you approve me the size, shape, mounting holes, main placement, I will route the board. Finally I will give you a complete package of files for you can send it to manufacture.
I'm electronic engineer with more than 15 years of experience designing circuits and PCB.

Any question, feel free to contact me.
Best regards.

Hi there,
I've updated my proposal too.
I am experienced in designing circuit and PCB and I could provide you help. I have done my research based on the new job description and this looks feasible to me but the board dimension requeirement looks challenging.
The suggested part you mentioned is a 4-port hub and the chip has many pin counts and I'm concern on the space if we used this. Based on my research today, i have a part to suggest. There are also other things that I would like to talk about. I hope you could contact me and I'm excited to start to work with you. Thank you, Lawrence

Hi there,
Thanks for the detailed description - this is really helpful.
I believe I could help you with designing your project. I have experience with designing memory card readers and USB hubs into various projects.
Unfortunately, neither of the parts you suggested will work as a bridge between USB and memory card interface - they are just hubs that convert one upstream USB port to several downstream ports. Fortunately, there are other single-chip solutions that combine USB-hub & USB-to-memory card bridge solutions into a single IC. That approach will do exactly what you want and will be compact enough to fit onto a small PCB.
Will be happy to discuss your project over chat in more details.
Thanks!
Best regards,
Sergey
