Salesforce - Duplicate Contact Identification and Merge

We can group the contacts based on the fields we have on contacts as unique values such as name, email, phone. I can able to extract this report & based on this we can decide which contact to keep & which can be deleted. I can write a batch job to process this deletion of duplicates & moving its child records into master contact record. Do we really to worry about reports before running this having % of matching etc. Let me know if you are interested to proceed with me. Thanks!

Hi! I can set up the report in a 3 days time, we'd set up a custom field with added processing to match with similar records and use that metric to pull a report. You'd have a nicely formatted report sorted according to the match ratio. So the most similar records are at the top and easier to merge.
