We have a current website ([login to view URL]). We are overall happy with the aesthetic but we need to make some updates. Our intent would be to start with the same Wordpress theme (Sydney) and create a new child theme. We would like to keep the parent theme unchanged to help with ongoing updates. We will want to clean up some of the page titles, meta descriptions, image alt tags, etc. We want the site to be easy for us to upload content such as press releases and blog posts. We would like to have this up and running before a planned media push. Site needs to optimized for mobile. [please ask me about my dog in your proposal to make sure you have at least read the project description] On an ongoing basis [separate cost from our budget - to discuss], we are looking for somebody to maintain the site to ensure the Wordpress, backends, theme, plugins are all updated, verified and any issues diagnosed and fixed on a regular basis (perhaps a weekly exercise? - to discuss). Set up regular site backups.

Most of the time we shouldn't update or introduce our code in theme files because its no easy to manage and change. From your requirement I understand that you want best practices to be followed so that wordpress has its magic power of updating pages on fly than hard-coding logic anywhere. I saw the site structure to guess the backend arrangement, can take up the work and complete restructure the backend as you want. Open for annual maintenance.
