Business Card ReDo

Overview: I started working with another freelancer to do my business cards but after she got the initial design right we ran into communication problems in getting some corrections made both in terms of final color and text. I have pngs and an Illustrator .ai file to work with. This will get confusing - I already know this - good communication will be important. This will take going back/forth several times to get the colors and contrast right. Back and forth includes me taking the cards to a local printer - and waiting for the printer to get me a printed sample. I'd expect the project to take 2 1/2 to 3 weeks to complete for this reason - even though the real work may only take a few hours. History - the png and pdf (cmyk) which look pretty good on the computer screen don't look good when printed. The red becomes flat/muted, not brilliant and the background colors she presented which look good print either too dark and the shape disappears or too light. Also I think the back side needs color. I don't know much about Illustrator but my understanding is that the file is in layers and you will be able to adjust the text, background and colors separately. These are 2-sided cards. Final: The final product will include 2 color variations of the front - one on dark background and another on white - and - 4-5 various color options for the back. These will be simple swaps. The printer wants colors in CMYK and would like the cards dropped into a pdf file at the end. I will also want .ai files.
