Hello

We are a small US-Based IT support company serving small-to-medium sized businesses. We are seeking a Remote Help Desk Support Technician to work 25-40 hours per week. The preferred hours would be somewhere around the window: Monday-Friday 8am - 5pm Central Standard Time USA.

You would be responsible for remotely taking inbound tickets, interfacing with the client (phone & helpdesk) and resolving end user IT issues on a timely basis. You would be working with mostly non-technical employees of small businesses in the USA so you would need to have EXCELLENT spoken English skills (without a noticeable accent).

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues relating to desktop/laptop/tablet computers, networks, Windows and Linux servers, wireless, printers/scanners, enterprise applications, and other related equipment, devices, and systems.

• Communicate with end users by phone, email, and via ticket system

• Install, configure, and maintain desktop/laptop/tablet computers, networks, Windows and Linux servers, wireless, printers/scanners, and other related equipment, devices, and systems.

• Assist other Help Desk Technicians to address issues.

• Work with vendors in a collaborative manner to resolve issues.

• Perform software and hardware installations and upgrades and assist the Network and System Administrator and other IT staff members in the implementation of major system changes, network redesign and systems integration.

• Follow standard Help Desk operating procedures; accurately log all Help Desk contacts using call tracking software.

• Assist in documenting commonly occurring issues and fixes.

• Other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Team oriented and able to work with others.

• Have 4+ years of experience in a technical support position.

A+ certification, Network+ Certification preferred.

• Have 2+ years Linux server administration experience or have Linux Certification and demonstrate competent Linux server administration skills.

• Have 2+ years Window server administration experience or have Microsoft professional certifications and demonstrate competent Windows Server administration skills.

• Ability to build rapport and elicit problem details from help desk customers.

• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Operating systems including Windows 7/8/10, Windows Server 2008/2012, Microsoft office applications such as Outlook, Excel and Word, logical networking technologies such as Microsoft's Active Directory and Windows Deployment Services.

• In-depth knowledge of Linux Operating systems including debian based systems and RPM based systems, Bind and Samba4.

• Knowledge of or experience with virtualization technology such as VMWare and Citrix XenServer.

• Experience with telephony/VoIP concepts and equipment.

• Demonstrated interpersonal skills and abilities particularly the ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel.

• Knowledge of computing and networking hardware and peripheral equipment.

• Ability to learn, install, configure and maintain various computer system hardware and software.

• Responsibilities may require weekend or late evening work in response to the needs of the systems being supported.

We would be looking for someone to work on a long-term basis, but we would want to first try you out for 2 weeks to see how you perform and how you get along with the team.
