How often do the contents on the application server change/update? We can simply copy the contents of the server to new server and at DNS fall over and use one if the technologies to sync folder (s) between two application servers.

Suponiendo que se requiere un failover activo-pasivo de una aplicación tradicional LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), se podría usar la replicación cliente-esclavo estándar de mysql, mientras que los datos de la aplicación se podrían copiar con un rsync a la instancia pasiva de forma periódica. De todas maneras hay variedad de soluciones posibles, dependen de los componentes utilizados y de lo que se quiere lograr. Mi bid ($200) podría variar al conocer más detalles acerca del proyecto

To 'upgrade' your server as failover solution we'll need to determine services it provided (apache2, MySQL database, etc.) Then I can install second server, setup same services and test it works. Hi Guys. First of all its hard give you a solution with very limited information. Anyone giving you a solution with that information is just doing guess work. I cannot give you a solution but i can give you some ideas of what is possible. First of all you need to consider how available do you want this server? What sort of downtime can you have? Do you need 99.9% uptime etc? A few ideas, Server replication : replication of the entire Virtual Machine in AWS. Here you would want both servers in the cloud. One server would be live while the other is in a down state and only becomes active during an outage. This would be best solution. The other option is to replication from you virtual box VM to AWS and use DNS failover to activate during a DR scenario. Replication over the internet may be a problem depending on how much data you are transferring and your connection speed. I do know that AWS do have features for active / active solutions as well which could be investigated.

Is it Active/Failover for the application or just the DR for the application. If it is a active/passive failover, Does the application supports clustering .
