* We actually need to create an area called "Where Are They Now". This will have 3 main categories - Alumni, Faculty & In Memoriam. Within each of those sections will be other sub-sections as well: Alumni - divided by graduating year, alphabetically, and by arts emphasis. Faculty - department. In Memoriam - by department. The whole area needs to have it's own search function as well. We need to be able to have custom form fields when someone enters their info into this area, and they should be able to upload 2 pictures as well. We also need people to be able to add other site members to their "Circle of Friends". The "Circle of Friends" feature should only be available to people who fill out this extended version of their profile for the "Where Are They Now" area of the site. Within both the core profile and this "Where Are They Now" we need a check box asking if they would like their email address made public. No other contact info, such as phone & address, will be made public but should also feed into a separate database (referenced below). Anyone who additionally creates a "Where Are They Now" page beyond their general site profile needs to have a link within their profile so people can go directly to their "WATN" page. Now, for the "Where Are They Now" system there's a decent existing dating module called "FriendFinder" that I installed on the site. It basically has a lot of these features, but they need to be customized to our needs. I haven't been able to get the picture upload capability to work yet, and there are generally quite a few bugs. Most of the questions in the questionnaire are completely inappropriate to the use we're putting it to, which also means that the search parameters given in the module are fairly inappropriate as well. For instance, instead of searching by sex (Male or Female) and age - we'd probably give people the ability to search by graduating year (with a choice of 'All' in case their not sure what year the person graduated), and/or Arts specialty at the school (Music, Theatre, Dance & Visual Arts). * Within the core PostNuke module of "Members List", we need to customize the "profile" entries that are requested. I also would like people to be able to upload their own avatars - what I'd ultimately prefer is that the same core site profile is also used in the forums. I don't want our site members to have to create 2 profiles. Does that make sense? * We need 2 extra pages - "History of the School" and "Missing Alumni". The "History of the School" could be editable similarly to a regular article. The "Missing Alumni" page needs to be sorted by year and should have a way for a site member to click on a link for a missing alum (perhaps a small graphic next to each) to be able to send us any contact info they may have for that person so we can follow up. In the admin area we should be able to check a box to remove a person from the "Missing" list and when that's done the system automatically asks us for their contact info to be entered into a separate database that's not accessible to site members - only administration (more on that next). * In order to keep the school alumni contact records up-to-date, we need all the contact info that people enter into the site to also go into an Excel database (or a simple tab-delimited file that can be imported into Excel if that makes things easier) on the backend. It should automatically update the database when someone changes their info on the site. * Birthdays - I've installed a script already that will display any site members birthdays on the correct day. But I'd also like for that to feed into the PostCalendar module as well if it's possible. If it were possible to integrate the birthday script with the calendar script then we could have categories within PostCal - such as the display on the homepage - where, in addition to "Today's Events" and "Upcoming Events" we could also have "Today's Birthdays" displayed. That would eliminate one box from the columns on the page and would make me a lot happier. * All areas of the site, including forums, events, etc. should be searchable from the one primary search box on the site. There can be separate search functions for each area as well, but I'd prefer if we had a link to "Advanced Search" where someone could choose which area to search - with the exception of WATN which should definitely have it's own separate quick-search function as FriendFinder already has. * We would like to customize the input areas for a specific section called "Interviews" - we need to be able to enter standard info such as graduation year, name, maiden name, then Q&As, with the ability to add more Q&As as necessary. We also need to be able to add images to the article. Perhaps one at the top, and have the option to add specific images to specific Q&A entries. Make sense? If this isn't possible we'll survive, but it's our ideal. * Finally, we'd like a newsletter functionality. Now, the existing "Alumni" module that I found and installed seems to have that functionality, but I haven't been able to get it to work yet, and I'd rather have it solely as an administrative function - although site members should have the option of unsubscribing somehow. Basically what I'd ultimately like for this is a certain amount of automation: Say, once a month, whether or not any of the administrators have specific news to send out, the newsletter system will send out a quick update including the last couple of articles (excerpt, maybe just title with a link to the actual article), all latest WATNs, all the latest names of people to register on the site with links to their profiles, and perhaps links to the last few forum postings. The newsletter would then get automatically sent to all registered site users. When we have specific info we want to get out right away we should be able to send out additional newsletters. We only have $50 for this project right now. Please DO NOT BID IF YOU CAN'T WORK WITHIN THIS BUDGET!!!!!! Note: Please know that we understand that this is a lot of work for only $50. But once we work with a good programmer we tend to send more work their way so it's a good networking job as well. We try to be very easy to work with and make the collaboration as enjoyable and painless as possible.
