Linux SysAdmin / Back-end / VPN Developer Required

For the right person this is an exciting opportunity to work with a rapidly growing consumer VPN provider in its early stages. I am looking for someone to work with me on an ongoing freelance/contractor bases with the opportunity of becoming a core part of the team as the business expands. Although the majority of the work can be carried out remotely you will need to be within 2 hours traveling distance to Newbury, Berkshire so we can meet up for an initial discussion and ongoing development meetings as and when required. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining the core back-end technologies that serve our growing subscriber base. I would estimate a requirement of 20 – 40 hours per month with some peaks when any major development is taking place of up to 50 – 60 hours per month. Functions you will be working on include: - The setup, deployment, maintenance and updating of VPN technologies on our growing number of servers. - Development and integration of the back-end system, working with the front-end web developer to enrich the user experience. - Maintenance and monitoring of servers including making stability and performance improvements (experimenting, testing and evaluating load balancing and open source technologies to do so). - Ongoing admin area development to aid rapid, effective support. - Ongoing development of new networking features and enhancements to existing client software/apps, working with software/app developers if necessary. Core technologies you will need to be familiar with include: - Linux (CentOS) - PHP - MySql Practical experience of working with the following would put you at a distinct advantage: - VPNs (OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP technologies). - Subscription based system development - Payment gateway system integration via API’s (PayPal & Eway)
