Integrate Wordpress/Buddypress registration with existing site

Hi,

I have an existing site and I have installed Wordpress and Buddupress on it. However, I would like to tie the wordpress registration/users to the existing users. That is, you have to have an account in my user table before you can create an account in Wordpress.

I can provide the relevant structure/fields you need to check but essentially, what I need is integrate the site and wordpress user tables together and yet somehow to keep them physically separate. Maybe a before create trigger or some check would work?

In addition, I need some tweaks to the default buddypress template. These are:

1. Change the CSS so that multilingual sections can be displayed properly (I have most of this done but may need some small modifications to some sections) This involves proper RTL and LTR CSS sections

2. Modify the "home" page of the blog template to a display partial posts in 2 or 3 columns
