We have a business system that is available in both a Network edition and a Personal edition.
The Network edition consists of a Server module which comprises an executable program, a dll, a number of databases and some 3rd party components; and a Client module that comprises 5 executables, 3 dll's and a number of 3rd party components.
The Personal edition just consists of a client module which comprises 5 executables, 3 dll's the databases and a number of 3rd party components.
We have a Server install and a Client install built in Installshield Developer v8 for the Network edition; and a setup for the Personal Edition built with the VB6 Deployment Wizard.
These work fine up to XP (although some of our versions of shared MS controls are a bit out of date), but when we run them on Vista (even as Administrator), we get Out of Date file messages and messages saying certain files cant be registered.
What we would like is initially, a new setup for the Personal Edition (using whatever setup package you prefer) containing all the latest shared files so that it will install on a standard version of Vista (and XP and Win2000) with no errors or warning messages, with the ability for us to rebuild the setups ourselves when we need to update the application program or components.
There will probably be a second phase, being new versions of the Network Server and Client installs.
You will have access to the existing Install projects if you need them, but not the sourcecode of the applications themselves.
The applications themselves seem to work fine under Vista, but if there are any problems of this nature, they will not be down to you to solve.
Thank you for looking !
