Dear Developer, In order to better understand our situation may I give you a little history. Even though I am British, I started TTc (Talent Trust Consultants) back in 1990 in Bangkok, Thailand, and grew it from about 12 members/clients (Christian Missionaries) that needed medical insurance who were serving in one of the refugee camps on the Thai-Cambodian border. From there we grew until I needed a simple CRM to keep track of all the people. Then, later, I needed an accounts program, so tested a few (Quickbooks, Peachtree, etc.), but without success as I could not make any of them do the work needed. I therefore started building calculations into my Act! CRM and managed to get most things done as needed. Currently we have about 8,000 lives in over 140 countries who have various, rather complex, medical options/choices that are calculated within the CRM in some 800 calculation fields that then complete an invoice for the member/client and also a very large Excel spreadsheet for the underwriters in Britain. As you can imagine, there are a good number of pretty long calculation strings being done within the CRM before the results are made available as an invoice and/or report. We also carry some 150GB of emails on our in-house sever (only the last three/four years worth), which we will still need regular access to, with the remainder being stored in an external backup should we ever need to go further back. The reason for this rethink/change is that our 6 year old version of Act! CRM will no longer be supported soon, and not only that, I feel the system has reached saturation .. it's becoming a little unstable and certainly running slower. Therefore, I would like to consider a Filemaker solution, but first need advice as to whether Filemaker can indeed handle everything. I am talking about a full ERP solution; namely email, contact management, accounts, etc., with the future ability of website marketing, mass mailing plus a credit card gateway or the newer concept of having invoices that can be paid direct by members/clients through such channels as PayPal or equivalent. I feel that any off-the-shelf CRM/ERP program may prove rather restrictive and certainly expensive if fully modified to meet our needs. I am also concerned we may not be able to make any changes ourselves, nor be able to live without constant external support. Currently there is a need for only 10 (possibly 12) workstations, so I feel that having our own Filemaker Solution (on premise) may well be the best way forward. An additional request is .. could we also be considered a non-profit organisation and be granted some financial support from your company please? We do actually make a profit, but only enough to keep things working (our members would be concerned if we were not successful or structured correctly for longevity). However, any surplus money is fed into our Mercy Fund that is used to help a member/client who's claim(s) fall outside the technical rules, but that we at TTc consider should still be covered, i.e., the need for extra airfares when airlifting a family out of China to Singapore to have one of their children hospitalised for instance (which was the first use of our fund more than 12 years back). Lastly, our time-line is straightforward. We need ideas and planning between now and the year-end holidays, with implementation on or before May 1st (our year-end). Thank you, Michael Lyon (Founder)
