Improve Performance in opencart 1.5.6.4 Sales Orders report and resolve error

The sales order report in opencart 1.5.6.4 is running very slow . The main reason is likely because the database has gotten larger over time and need to be improved. It would also be beneficial if when the user first accesses the report it isn't run so the user can decide what filter to use and then run the report. this avoids the extra waiting. though this point won't matter if performance is fixed Please only bid on this if you know how to deal with improving performance on this report and have good experience with opencart 1.5.6.4
