jQuery File Upload (by blueimp) - get id or category into PHP variable

I am looking for someone who is familiar with jQuery File Upload by blueimp or at least with the coding technique. I have set it up to store the data in MySQL; that works fine. The upload form uses some jquery/javascript, perhaps a php offshoot to list the images and data. I set up a dropdown list but am not familiar enough with the coding technique to get the id or category fields into php variables so that a dropdown list will select a saved item.
