Hello, Do you know the power rating of the DC motors? That will be needed to determine the size and type of batteries and what kind of power system will be needed, especially if you need to charge the batteries. Are you also looking for a tutorial on how and why the design is done in a particular manner? And, do you realize that for simple switch control you do not need any relays if the motors are small enough? Let me know if I an help. Best regards, Stuart Borden.

If you don't need a control voltage on battery, it will be use only DPDT switches but 5*2 or 7 numbers. Contact me if you want discuss details.

Yes it is possible to design and calculate the parameters. We keep on designing such for our hydro project requirements.

I've just made similar circuit a few days ago which could control 3 motors. So i can easily make that same circuit to control 5. The circuit can be made in two ways - 1)using only switches(any kind) 2) using transistors and switches( requires less switches) You can get the design done without any cost.I don't need money just working for science. Good rating will be enough for me.
