Canoe Rental Web Application
Develop a Web Application for Canoe Rental:
Preferred technology: CakePHP/PHP, MySQL database, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Bootstrap
Features:
- Design resources (logo, colors, images)
- Canoe library – we will display all our Canoes that are available for renting with pictures, small description and features with rent option for every Canoe
- Users can rent a Canoe for free for the first 2 hours after that they will pay an hourly rate
- Users will be able to rent a Canoe for full day and they will pay a daily fee
- Users will not be able to rent a Canoe for more than one day
- If a user rent a Canoe for 4 hours and return the Canoe later than that they will pay a late fee
- Booking calendar for users (to see when a Canoe is available)
- Booking form – Canoes are available Members only, in order to book a Canoe users will need to authenticate (using username and password – we will need an integration here with existing database) and booking form fields will be autocompleted with attributes from Members List. Users will need to validate if this information is correct (if not they will have the ability to use and alternative email address, or phone number.
- User dashboard where they can see transaction history
- Booking form – date, start hour, end hour and pick up location and drop off location (right now we have only one location)
- Display if a Canoe is available to be rented based on user’s date and start/end hour
- Booking calendar for users
- When users submit a booking form they will need to sign an agreement (policy and liabilities) – we have 2 options here just a form checkbox that they are agree with policy or adobe eSign integration (save date and time in database)
- After they submit the form they will be prompted how much users need to pay. They will have the option to pay at pickup location (using cash or cc) or they will pay online (We don`t know exactly what payment gateway we will use)
- Predefined maps and safe routes section – this section will use google maps to display some safe routes for users
- Email notification after a user rent a Canoe or/and reminders
- Admin dashboard with reports – rent report, Canoes rented per day/week, reports for payments
- Admin dashboard to set a late fee for a reservation based on drop off hour, admin dashboard to rent a Canoe if a user did not rent using website
- Admin dashboard to set various attributes like rent fees, program, and holidays.
