A personal website

Hi, I – I’m a journalist/copywriter, whose name is Mark Pontin (though I’ve also used other bylines and pseudonyms). I want one (1) landing page that’ll also be a home page, to be implemented in WordPress (and to be cellphone-friendly) for a website that’ll be a repository and portfolio for writings of different kinds that I’ve done. This writing includes not only online pieces and hundreds of articles in old print magazines I need to comb through, but also things like PR and technical copy I wrote for various venture capital firms. Do not worry about all that part; only I can do that. What I need from you is that one landing/home page template. I need it organized like this prototype I built using WordPress here: [login to view URL] That is: (1) This page will be divided into three vertical columns of images; in my prototype I only built those images two deep, but in the landing/home page you’ll build for me it will be three vertical columns twenty to sixty images deep, depending on how many linked images you with your expertise reckon there can be on that one page before download speeds suffer. (2) This page will utilize almost the entire screen width as against the usual WordPress formatting, which confines content to the center of the screen and wastes the rest. (Again, see [login to view URL]) (3) I want a slider image in the header as in my prototype; I used the old Twenty Seventeen WordPress theme after trying out about thirty WordPress themes, including two I paid for. That’s the look I want. (4) Still, there’s a small problem with that: with the Twenty Seventeen theme, the slider image only works on a WordPress post format and I probably want a page format. On that basis, therefore, I’m not tied to the Twenty Seventeen theme – far from it. It’s the slider image look I want. If you know a better theme to get that look or if you want to create a totally customized theme, I’m open to talking about that (and paying more). Listen up. I do not need or want any SEO or PPC capability. Seriously. Do not try and sell me any. Repeat: do not try to sell me any SEO or PPC bells and whistles. Finally: why am I hiring a professional if I had enough WordPress to build my prototype? Because I assume a professional will know how to use WordPress and the appropriate current plug-ins to achieve more elegantly and efficiently what I managed to do with my prototype only after much work and cursing. (By the same token, however, if all you’ve got is basic WordPress skills out of a manual, so do I. Don’t waste your time and mine trying to hustle me.) Let me say a little more there: due to all the constraints of WordPress being open source and designed for blogging, and then twisted into use for business sites via independently created Rube Goldberg-type plug-ins (which might or might not work in a given theme, iteration, or with each other), I found WordPress horrible in terms of getting it to do what I wanted -- especially as I’ve recently worked with Wix for a customer. Still, since I’ve got my domain name on Blue Host, it’s probably best if I stick with WordPress. I’m sure a professional can build a landing/home page with WordPress that does what I want better than I can.
