The project was about inhabit a wetland located in Blesbokspruit (Johannesburg) and finding different methods to clean acidic water formed by mining damp. Biomimicry Design method is a natural and sustainable method applied to in Elective 4. Elective 4 aimed to design living spaces that is relevant to the context and it adapts to the wetland, by mimicking the species form structure, materiality, system and function. It was possible by analysing adaptation of the species in site. Species such as Aloe Ecklonis, Reduvius Tarsatus, Mayfly, Algae’s and others. Algae’s where the most effective, two types of Chlorophyta algae’s where identified which where Spirogyra and Cladophora species and the two species where in the water. The Spirogyra is known as Cotton Algae has a structure made of a nucleus in the middle supported by Two chloroplast strands raping around the nucleus inside a single cell, accordingly.

FLOATING RESEARCH CENTRE (Johannesburg)
The theme was to design for the Sixth Extinction. The project was about inhabit a wetland located in Blesbokspruit (Johannesburg) and finding different methods to clean acidic water formed by mining damp. Biomimicry Design method is a natural and sustainable method applied to in Elective 4. Elective 4 aimed to design living spaces that is relevant to the context and it adapts to the wetland, by mimicking the species form structure, materiality, system and function. It was possible by analysing adaptation of the species in site. Species such as Aloe Ecklonis, Reduvius Tarsatus, Mayfly, Algae’s and others. Algae’s where the most effective, two types of Chlorophyta algae’s where identified which where Spirogyra and Cladophora species and the two species where in the water. It has been great Working at Consultium Architects & Urban Design. I did learn alot from Design to implementation of a project. The most challenge part was to issue drawings for construction to the contractor because they where always behind schedule and they always forced us to work under pressure.
