html 5 Link Hiding

We have an html5 short application. It is a medical site and shows front male and has the ability to switch to female and rotate each image. The problem we are having is some of the links off of the images are active even when the image is not active. For instance there is a vaginal discharge link and a mapping for the location of the vaginal discharge link is displayed even when the active image is male.
