Fair Winds Strategies is a consulting firm located in New York. We were previously called Tech Valley Consulting but are now changing our name and brand to this new name.

We really like the existing Tech Valley Consulting logo. There is style in the "VA" combination of letters. The type is clean. The symbol before the words is used as a background for much of our marketing material (see attached pictures). We like the boldness of the orange and black colors. However, the new company name is "Fair Winds Strategies". This name is related to sailing. The phrase "Fair Winds and Following Seas" is said to people leaving on journies to wish them luck and good conditions. Fair winds are about moving forward and about freshness and openness.

We would like a logo designed that has stylized typography (please note - all fonts used must be under $99 [but preferably free] for commercial use and the typeface must be specified on handover). We would like there to be a symbol that we can use with the logo, or as a background (has to be simple so it doesn't overpower anything in front of it). We would like a bold color scheme, but one fitting with sailing/boating/the ocean.

Fair Winds Strategies is a one stop shop for any type of business service, and we charge a fixed price per month for access to these services.

Consulting services offered include:

- Leadership and Operations Consulting (Leadership training, outsourced human resources, more)
- Sales and Marketing Consulting (Web sites, SEO, Branding, Planning, Compensation Plan Development, Training, more)
- Technology Consulting (Application Development, Infrastructure and Communications, Information Security, more)
- Merger and Acquisition Support (Target identification, review and analysis, negotiations, more)
- General Business (Business Process, CRM, Business Development, more)

Our target is CxO level (CEO, COO, CIO, CMO, etc.) individuals at small to medium businesses. We're looking to provide structure to business that are growing, or turnaround support to businesses that are contracting.

Further requirements:

- Should be professional/executive in nature and not overly complex.
- Should be usable on embroidered shirts in addition to online and print (i.e. should not be really detailed).
- Prefer use of ONLY TWO COLORS
- I'm a big lover of integrating design into typography, and of the choice of typography itself.
- Need to have a symbol logo plus the name of the company in type (see the attached samples)
- ANY TYPE/FONT USED SHOULD BE OPEN SOURCE AND LICENSED FOR COMMERCIAL USE, OR NO MORE THAN $99 TO PURCHASE *ALL* VERSIONS (i.e. light, bold, heavy, normal, etc.)

So we're liking a lot of the submissions. Thank you! A number of the ones with sailboat logos are great, but they don't convey the business aspect of the company, or any sense of the help we provide, or helping business move forward. I'm not sure how you'd modify them, but I just thought I'd mention it. I'd love to see some more ideas.

Here's my "guide" for star ratings. 4 stars means you are definitely being considered for selection. 3 stars means you caught our interest an we may include you after passing your design by other people. 2 stars means "Thank You" for taking the time, but it's not what we're looking for (keep in mind that art is in the eye of the beholder - so it might be an awesome design but just not one that we love). 1 star means you didn't follow the directions. While I liked the Orange and black with the Tech Valley consulting logo, I don't think it really fits with the new name.
