Hello!

So, I am a freelance writer, and I have created a website/blog combo to showcase my portfolio, and help folks get a better sense of me (humor, creativity, ability to write). My website's tagline is "Ms. Jones' Fancy Freelancery" so I am looking for a clever image that depicts the inside of a small shop that produces "freelancery." Kind of like a haberdashery but for writing. Whimsical, kind of like Willy Wonka...

I see myself in the shop, and a variety of (slightly messy) texts and writing utensils being sold in the shop. I have pretty distinct beauty marks (in an arrow) down the left side of my face so, that's one teeny tiny detail I hope will be included! I picture typewriters, laptops, reams of paper, magazines, books, newspapers, pens, pencils, anything that can be considered writing-related.

I've included images of old general stores and such, and photos of myself. My color scheme is blues, purples, greys. I hope to see a variety of designs, and I am not set on any particular style (cartoon, sketching, caricature, comic, watercolor...) Just show me your best!

**Please do not put me in an office with office supplies! I want to be in a shop!**

Hello and thank you for the invite :) I have posted a line art with my concept, it's #17 . I can finish it for a few hours is it's ok, I just prefer sending a sketch first (even for contests) so I could get a feedback at a time that it's easy to edit. So if it's ok I will edit/finish it, if not then at least thank you for the chance :))
PS. I can use a fond for the words, or make it with your handwriting (if I get it scanned I can draw over it to mimic your writing :) ). Also, I didn't add a lot of items since it's a first stage and I didn't want to risk making it too cluttered, but I can add stuff at this point too :)

  Love it! I totally understand sending a rough draft first, just in case. I really like the current writing for the banner. My handwriting isn't spectacular but, I would definitely prefer a typeface that looks like handwriting, or actual drawn words. I look forward to seeing it with more items/detailing/color! For Wordpress, anything smaller than 940 pixels wide will work (it definitely doesn't have to be that big), and taller than 200 pixels. I want it to look more like a nice rectangular image than an advertising banner.

  Hello again :) I've uploaded a few color schemes, #18 , it will look more lively when it's shaded, I just want to make sure I'm going in the right direction so I could give the best of me for the final entry ^^

Hello All! Thank you for your contributions. I'm looking for more of a cartoony, illustration-type header. Please stop superimposing my picture on shop pictures I gave as examples! I could easily paste my picture into the shop photos I had found. I'm looking for something uniquely "Fancy Freelancery." I also do not own the rights to the images provides, as they were just examples of general stores for you to become inspired by! Thank you!

  Yes please! As if I am selling everything writing related using the items in the shop... I don't mind being behind a counter or sitting in a corner, as long as it doesn't appear tha I'm in an office!

  **It's more important that the shop be detailed with all of the different writing items. I would be okay with not being included if the design of the shop image was great.

The website is through Wordpress. The main column width is 470 except in the full-width layout where it's 940.
