Well-defined two cartoons which make fun of philosophical materialism

Required detail is only so much, that the scene described is well recognized. See included sketch I made, for a quick overview on what the first cartoon should express. The second cartoon has very few elements/detail, see below. The final work is to be colored. An image originally created as black&white with colors added afterwards is perfectly fine, though.

First cartoon:
The large ocean liner “M.S. Complete explanation of humans by natural sciences” clashed with the iceberg “reality” and is sinking. There are two men in the water. Man A is wildly moving his body, has an overreacting/overexcited facial expression and is loudly screaming. Man B is just staying afloat more calmly, with a more neutral facial expression. Man A holds a text sign “materialism” in one hand. The sign’s orientation is tilted. There is a piece of wreckage/wood/whatever next to him, only. The piece is large enough that he could hold on it, but he doesn’t. The piece bears the text “obvious truth”. Man B holds a text sign “reason” in one hand. The sign’s orientation is straight. Man B is closer to the perspective than Man A. The scene's perspective observer holds a safety buoy(ring) in the hand or in the hands, from aboard a life raft. (The perspective’s observer has to decide between the two men, or at least who to rescue first.) Regarding left/right placement of objects in the scene: the iceberg “reality” and the “reason”-sign holder are on the same side.

All text in quotation marks is to appear in the cartoon large enough to be easily readable. Man A and man B must not look preferrable one over another based on their natural outer appearance, but rather only because of their described behaviour and facial expression. Fidelity of proportions should be close enough to the real world in order to not look anyhow weird.

Second cartoon:
The materialism sign lies at the bottom of the ocean. (Everything above is water. The guy who held it survived, I mention this because no bones or such should be drawn.)

Final submissions are to be 4000 pixel x 4000 pixel size each. Image file format is PNG. The text is not to be included in the submission. (I’m going to add it myself.) If your work is originally black&white and colored afterwards, then submit the black&white version, as well. Optionally, an image with the first cartoon on the right and with the second cartoon on the left and with a smooth transition of 500 pixel width between them may be additionally submitted (8500p x 4000px).

The cartoons make fun of philosophical materialism, which is the idea that nothing but matter exists, and I’m planning to use the work in creating the cover for my philosophical nonfiction book, which is written in mostly serious and objective language. The winner may choose to have his or her name mentioned in the book as the cover cartoons’ designer, if I use the submission.

    Alright.

I can already announce who's likely going to be the winner!

I've thought about the submissions so far and consulted some people I know. Krzepki's 5, once colored and the 2 issues fixed, excellently fits what I need. I'll also give Krzepki suggestion on 2 further small changes.

To be honest, I have to say, I'm going to preferr studiokimus 9 over davidfnz 8, once studiokimus 9 gets it's suggested updates.

Krzepki 5(after it's fixed as promised, colored and updated) and akalyanpurkar 7 look like definite contenders for the award so far. And for the third one, I'd have to decide between davidfnz 8 and studiokimus 9, if studiokimus 9 gets the changes I'm going to suggest.

You've already started to make it hard for me to decide :) . Each submission so far has at least one aspect I like best. I'll elaborate on it:
Krzepki's submission has the visibly stormy sea which I like and also nice detail and I like the drawing of the iceberg.
davidfnz's submission got the facial expressions and the body movement/gesture almost perfect (reason guy should just look a small bit less smiling), though I'm not sure about the facial drawing style
manikmoon's submission's outfit of the reason guy is my favourite, materialist guy should just have about the same outfit. (However, the guys being mostly underwater like in entry 5 and entry 2 is perfectly fine.)
MarekDAZPostulka's submission has my favourite life raft and safety buoy.

More clarification: The piece of wreckage should really be right next to the materialist guy. Ideally so close that he could just extend his arm towards it to hold on it (even though he doesn't actually do it)

HansLehr: See resolution requirement. Book size will probably be 6.69" x 9.61"(16.99 x 24.41 cm) . But the cartoon(s) won't take up all of it.

I plan to pick my favourite 2 or 3 submissions when there's about 2 days left on the contest, then message their creators about it and about any changes I'd like to see, that would further improve their chance of winning. The ocean liner BTW should be a passenger ship, not a freighter.

Clarification: The materialist, who's screaming loudly, his face shouldn't just look overexcited. It should look mad or crazy or like he's just being killed.
