Joomla / PHP help for "Infinite loop deteced" error

Hi,

My site has recently been moved from my local server to a live server.

Client has made some requests and I went to add an extension, but it says:

'JFolder::create: Infinite loop detected'

I've searched on forums and have tried amending the path and temp in my [url removed, login to view] file but I'm not having much luck with my limited knowledge. I'm now admitting defeat and asking if someone else can fix it for me. I'm guessing someone who knows what they are doing will be able to fix it very quickly.
