internal message system

I'm looking for an internal message system. I'd like to keep the budget as low as possible really. Perhaps around the $50/60 mark. It should be fairly simple to install and setup.

I want users to be able to send messages to each other. This is how i'd like it to work.

A user goes to their inbox page via their account page (inbox page needs to be created) - all messages for that user are displayed here.

List messages in the inbox, say who it's from (the user's username) the time and date of when the message was send. Display 'Read' or 'Unread' as well as being able to click the subject of the message which displays the message. (reply button which takes them to the compose mail page with the user's username already entered.

Users can compose e-mails. They simply type in the username they want to send the message to. Subject of the message and then a text box.

The message is then sent to that user. The message is stored in a table. When the user logs in a simple php query lists any messages for that user.

I have a document below just showing you a demo of what i'm looking for. Please ignore the site search project. - although this project could be past onto the winning bidder of this project.

At the moment when a user logs in it says their name at the top of my site: Welcome 'Username' | Account | Login | Signup

I'd like to add a bit of text saying Inbox(1) and in brackets the number of unread messages.

just to let everyone know..

i already have the entire user management system made.

Basically your job is to make the inbox and the compose e-mail and a sql table.

Linking this to users sql table i already have. You may want to signup at my site changeurl.net to get a feel for the project.
