Hi I want to add google map searching functionality to my site [login to view URL] see examples of simalar map searching here [login to view URL] (one of our competitors so it needs to be better than this!) We would need all of the functionality her but ideally like you to design our own "house logo" to appear on the map and a different "house logo" to distinguish between houses and flats and other property. please also look at how the functionality works for the map display and searching on www.propertyfinder.com. You can see that this has 3 or 4 different house logos of different colours to indicate different properties and in particular where there are too many properties to be displayed neatly they have a "multiple properties logo" which shows you there are lots of properties and encourages you to zoom in to be more specific I like the fact that when you mouse over a property logo its details appear including photo thumbnail appear in a summary window on the left hand side. We would like to also have similar functionality. It is important that we use google maps (because they are free!) but we would like to get as much functionality as the property finder [login to view URL] please get familiar with the googlemap integration specs to you can advise us on exactly what can or cannot be done using googlemaps. So in summary we want something better than the citylets site and as good as the propertyfinder site using google maps. The other thing is that we will need you to design the page or map search frame in such a way that the whole design feel is very different from the other 2 and that it is very "lettingweb" please get a good feel for our site We can give you sample access to our property database for you to work with. Ideally I would like to know that you have worked with google map integration in the past and can list similar projects for us to review on the PMB. We will only consider bids where you have posted examples of previous work. We will retain all copywrite to the code you produce and your work must be fully documented. We have lots of other work and are lookign to build a long term relationship with some good designers and programmers. The design look of the map searching may take a bit of "evolving" to get right so please allow for a few revisions. ideally would like a first draft to review on your serverswithin 10 days and have the project finished within 2 weeks. Happy to come to some interim payment structure but we will only pay final amount once the code has been integrated and fully tested on our own servers and we have full documentation of your work. Hi - please note that we do have geocoding already- details to follow Additional Info (Added 5/3/2006 at 11:55 EST)... GEOCODING: We currently use PostcodeAnywhere for geocoding. This gives us Lat, Long, and Eastings and Northings. All properties to let on the site have addresses that include this data. Additional Info (Added 5/26/2006 at 4:32 EST)... Hi ---- Please look at [login to view URL] This is great map functionality and pretty much what we are after. it uses sales and lettings but we would only need lettings. Features we would want to include are: 1) oneonemap has a good function in that on the main uk map it summarrises the total number of properties in each in yellow boxes with red [login to view URL] 2 scales (100m and 50 mile)it shows you the total number of properties in say Scotland as you go down the next 2 scales ( to 10 and 20 mile) it shows the number in each postode area eg EH(for Edinburgh) 2) at the bottom right hand corner it shows you the scale, how many properties it has, and how many have been displayed and a why button to detail why there are less. eg * 31,561 sq miles * 2,985 properties * 78 displayed (Why?) 3) I'm not an expert on the coding of this (as I'm sure you can tell) but I know that sometimes google maps can work a bit slow and I'm told that maybe the best way to set it up would be to have look ups to google on say an hourly basis and then cache the images so that they dont have to load everytime a users puts in a request? 4) As per citylets you need to be able to customise the display with min/max bedrooms min/max price and type of property- 2 extra functions on ononemap that we like are the "jump to location" and the "within (number) miles of (location)" Some of this is new functionality so please amend your bid appropriatly- thanks Alex
