This story is based on the famous Filipino Spirits called "Pasatsat". The word was derived from Pangasinense, one of the dialects in the Philippines that means "to stab". Pasatsat are told to be the ghosts who died or were killed during WW2 and were wrapped in a reed mat for, after the war, the cost of living is way too low, and cannot afford to have coffins for their burials.
