Program to crop and remove background from images

We're looking for a talented individual to create a console program that helps us transforming the images we use in our ecommerce website. As the sources of these images come from different brands, we have different frames and backgrounds. We’ve worked in our own implementation but it’s unable to cover all the possibilities with our current approach. The program we're looking for should take two arguments, the source and destination, and, depending on how it’s the image itself, perform the necessary transformations to have the background removed and the image zoomed so it fills as much of the width and height space as possible. Some of the images may need background enlargement instead of removing. You may use the language you want, preferably Python, PHP, Ruby, etc. Everything that runs on Linux/Mac. Having the source code is a must (we’ll change things later). The speed is not really important though we expect the program to run in a reasonable time. LibGD and ImageMagick available. Attached you may see some training images with some of the sources we work with and, in the output folder, what we expect. Please, we hope to find someone who has worked in image manipulation before.
