Visited Website Application based on Syslog

The goal of the project is to create an application that accepts syslog data from a firewall; parses the data fields, and displays the following information:

user LAN IP address - URL address - date/time - category

Application Flow:

1) Customer installs app

2) Customer has a setup option to specify a port to listen on (default is 514)

3) Syslog data is sent to the app

4) The 4 fields are parsed from the syslog data (ip, url, date,category)

5) The data is displayed in a row format. Newest entries start at top; older entries shift down.

6) Records older than 15 minutes should be removed.

6) The URL can be clicked to open in a new browser window to visit the site.

Application Design:

1) We would like a splash screen created for when the app is first opened.

2) Our color choices are red/black (to go with our website design)

3) App should be packages as a .msi file.

4) App will come in two versions:

4a) Lite - displays 3 more recent entries

4b) Unlimited - Display unlimited entries (in scrolling frame/window)

5) We would like to app to be "cool" looking. I know that is hard to define but we want the app to look enticing... not just rows of data.
