I am setting up an education trust for six children funded through an initial seed capital of Kes 10,000,000 (equiv. of USD 100,000) and yearly contributions of Kes 1,000,000 (USD 10,000). The target is to fund education through the interest on the initial seed capital and the yearly contributions without eroding the principal seed capital. The trust should cater for part of their primary, secondary and tertiary dependent on funds available (not Kindergarten). The disbursement of funds available to each child should be based on the child’s level of education e.g. a child in Secondary school should be entitled to a larger proportion of the available funds than a child in primary school by virtue of their fees being more expensive. Deliverable. - A financial model in Kenya shillings from Jan 2017 to Dec 2040 - Yearly schedule of funds available for disbursement assuming Earnings (interest + contributions) – costs (education fees) - Apportioning of available funds to each child based on education fees cost ratio. - No erosion of the principal seed capital - A model where I can easily tweak the variables and it reflects in the model i.e. no. of years, no. of children, seed capital, interest, inflation, annual contributions etc. Attached is my rudimentary cost modelling which gives insight to some benchmark figures and assumptions.
