The DAO development is using the qortal blockchain as the primary and base for its blockchain activities and hence, the DAO will inherits all primary features of the qortal core and this must be sustained in the DAO protocol without any major changes that will affect the smooth update of the core of the qortal blockchain during this genesis phase of the DAO protocol development. The DAO is hybrid of the Maker and SNX open-source projects and blended with some features of the Bisq DAO open-source. The primary blockchain of the DAO project is minting using Qortal core and other secondary minting as plugins, e.g., Waves staking blockchain wallet and SIPchain. However, the initial development phase now is more of Javascript for its UI/UX.
