Java Thesaurus

This project contains two parts: - copy the behavior of the OpenOffice 2.0 Thesaurus into Java. The behavior should be exactly the same as the one in OpenOffice (remove the help and language buttons). Only English has to be supported. - the second is a non UI version of the thesaurus that will return a List of all synonyms of a specific word Both of these can be solved with a static method if that is the way you want to do it. Both of these are based on the thesaurus files from OpenOffice. Attached is a smaller version of that file with explanations on the file construction. IMPORTANT it will have to work with the larger version of the thesaurus that is contained in OpenOffice 2.0, so make sure to get that as well (I can also provide it if you don't want to download the whole of OpenOffice 2.0). All variable names, code, comments have to be in English. It should not be necessary to use any external packages apart from plain Java, if you do want to use an external package, check it with me first. The UI is to be done in swing and it has to be resizable (not like the OpenOffice one which isn't resizable). The code has to be commented using JavaDoc and a sample program showing usage of both parts has to be provided. Both components have to include a check to see if the thesaurus files are present or not. If they are not present an exception is to be thrown (create a new one). Focus on making the response times as fast as possible. To be able to show quick response times a memory cache can be used, though for the second non-UI version it should be possible to turn this cache off, or at least limit the size of it. Also make sure that this cache is not maintained beyond the point where the component/method is used. A new call has to start with an empty cache. This is more to keep memory usage down. Good communication is expected and I would like to see a version before the deadline is reached so that any changes can be made on it if necessary. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform Java 1.4.2, UI in swing
