Write some javascript that installs an SSL root security certificate via the browser. Script will detect browser type (IE, Mozilla/Firefox/Opera/Safari) and install the security certificate.
First the script will detect the browser type. The script will detect whether the root certificate is already installed on the computer. If it is installed, nothing will happen. If the root certificate is not installed, it will ask to install the file, then install the certificate, and then confirm the installation took place.
For IE, I'd like to have this automated as described/demonstrated at [login to view URL]:
"Install a Root Certificate using Internet Explorer and the CEnroll ActiveX control. This avoids the Microsoft Certificate Installation wizard and all of its complexity and extra screens for users. This however will ONLY work for Microsoft Internet Explorer."
Here is another reference to automating the installation of the certificate in IE: <[login to view URL]>
The installation process for non-IE browsers is as simple as loading the root certificate in the browser.
This script should run on page load.
## Deliverables
The website is on a LAMP installation with PHP as the primary language. The CMS used to deliver pages is called <a href="[login to view URL]">MODx</a> and will have to take into account any issues that may arise with the CMS.
