Website Refresh Project

We currently have a small hobby site currently in need of a template overhaul. When originally launched it was created by personally modifying a free online Wordpress template, and while that suited us at the time, it's now over 5 years old and we feel the time has come for a refresh with someone with more skills than us. Most of the desired work is layout changes, including a new template and content arrangement. Also some very minor graphics work for sidebar buttons (similar to [login to view URL]). We've found a couple premium themes that could be used or at least used as reference points if it helps. Can share the specific desired layout details further once discussion is underway. We also need some custom work done that will be able to pull information from specific posts (assuming custom fields but if there's an alternative am all for it) and use it for displaying information in a sidebar and with internal suggested/referral pages. If that can be tied into an admin box with a few checkboxes values plugin-style versus having to manually enter them in on each post's custom field section, that'd be even more ideal.
