I'm currently in the middle of starting up a new business venture in Web Hosting selling VPS's using OnApp as our platform to manage/host the VPS's. I've already picked out the server hardware along with the SAN Storage Array and NAS Backup servers but could use a little glance over of them to ensure there optimal for my use. What I'm looking for help on deciding on the right network switches/routers/firewalls to purchase for our Web Hosting venture without going over budget of $3000USD. List of possible separate networks we require: Public Internet Facing Network Private Internal Network Management Network SAN iSCSI Storage Network NAS Backup Network IPMI Network For the router/firewall I was debating on just setting up a HP DL360 G3 with pfSense and connecting our 100Mbit drop from the Datacenter into it then connect the out from the firewall to the uplink on our public switch, haven't decided on what switch to use or if I need a 1GB/s switch or could I get by on a 10/100 switch. As for internal switches I was debating on using HP Procurve 2824/2848 switches as our VM Hosts will be using 4x 1GB/s connections each dedicated just for SAN traffic. I have more questions and concerns obviously but will save those for the winning bidder! If this project goes well and you have the skills required I would like to also entertain the idea of having you setup/configure the equipment as well at a later date!
