Hello, I'm looking for help to program a PIC16C774 microcontroller to apply inputs and aquire outputs to and from a simple logic device.
The PIC is connected to a PC via an RS232 circuit (using MAX232 chip) and a serial cable.
The device to be tested is a 'CD74HCT21E'. This is a Dual 4-input AND gate (two 4-input AND gates on one chip). The data sheet for this device is attached below in the addtional files section.
On command from the PC, the PIC will apply inputs in a sequence consistent with the device truth table. It will then transmit the 2 device outputs back to the PC COM1 port. According to the truth table there will two sets of 5 outputs.
I will use this information on the PC side to check that the outputs are correct. I will be using MS Visual Basic 6 when reading the device outputs from the COM port.
Currently the PIC is connected to the AND device as follows:
Pin1 - RB7; Pin2 - RB6; Pin3 - RB5; Pin4 - RB4; Pin5 - RB3; Pin6 -RB2; Pin7 - RB1.
and
Pin8 - RA3; Pin9 - RA2; Pin10 - RA1; Pin11 - RA0; Pin12 - RE2; Pin13 - RE1; Pin14 - RE0.
The outputs from each input sequence must be available at the COM port after that sequence has executed. This will enable me to make proper logic comparisons on the PC side.
